A young man from Gander has been charged for impaired driving in a crash that claimed the lives of two people in July.
Police arrested and charged 21-year-old Nicholas Villeneuve this morning.
In the early hours of July 7th, a 65-year-old man and 63-year-old woman from Lewisporte were killed in a crash between an SUV and a pickup truck. Their two passengers were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Villeneuve, the lone-occupant of the truck, was taken to hospital where a blood sample was taken. RCMP say an analysis confirmed that he was impaired at the time of the crash.
Villeneuve appeared in court today on two counts of impaired driving causing death, and two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm.
He was released on strict conditions, and is scheduled to return to court in early February.
