International Para Hockey is coming to the province this weekend and Team Canada is looking to end Team USA’s five year winning streak.

The 2019 Canadian Tire Para Hockey Cup kicks off at the Paradise Double Ice Complex on Sunday hosting team Czech Republic, USA, Russia and Canada.

Hockey Canada’s Kelsey Chadwick says the team is serious about what they do and they are pumped to host in Newfoundland and Labrador for the first time.

She says the thing people do not realize about Para Hockey is the speed and strength of the players.

She says it is so much faster than you expect it to be and the sport has grown significantly in the past number of years. The game is fast and the players throw their bodies around like people wouldn’t believe.

The games start tomorrow in Paradise.
