High tide was a lot higher than usual in many communities across the province today.
Pictures from areas such as Little Bay Islands, Dildo, and Twillingate show the water coming far up onto the land and encircling sheds, whafs, and washing across roadways.
Samantha Roche, a meteorologist with environment Canada says the water levels were caused by high tide coinciding with storm surge.
She says the water levels should now be receding and things should be back to normal tonight.
She says the next high tide this evening will be much lower. She notes there will still be some storm surge happening, but the effects should be much more minimal.
