A 33-year-old west coast woman has been sentenced in connection with a crash just over a year ago that sent one person to hospital.
Ashley Caines of Portland Creek was convicted of a number of offences including impaired driving causing bodily harm and possession for the purpose of trafficking in Port aux Choix provincial court last week.
She was ejected from the vehicle she was driving after it crashed on the highway near Port Saunders on August 7th of 2018. Caines was found with what police call a “significant amount of cocaine concealed on her person.”
Her passenger was sent to hospital with injuries.
Caines was sentence to nine months in jail, 18 months probation and is prohibited from driving for 2 years.
