Opposition Leader Ches Crosbie is accusing the Liberal government of “corruption” in the handling of the hiring of Carla Foote to an executive position at The Rooms.
The opposition parties are calling for the resignation of Minister Christopher Mitchelmore who authorized the move, after the Citizen’s Representative found that he violated the House of Assembly’s Code of Conduct.
Crosbie accuses Mitchelmore of a lack of integrity and gross mismanagement of his responsibilities with public money. Despite that, Crosbie says it appears as though Mitchelmore will not be stepping down because, he says, they have to “protect the premier.”

What needs to be discovered, says Crosbie, is whether or not Mitchelmore was on his own pulling strings to create and secure a high-paying job for Foote, someone he barely knew, or was he under the directive of a higher office, namely the Premier.
Crosbie says government has to be held to account.
No one, he says, can assume Mitchelmore acted alone. That is the mystery that they are trying to come to grips with, and the situation that Premier Ball is going to have to answer for in the House of Assembly.
