The holidays are a difficult time for those who have lost loved ones especially when they were taken too soon by senseless acts.
The MADD Avalon Candlelight Vigil of Remembrance and Hope for victims and survivors of impaired drivers was held last night at Wesley United Church.

MADD Avalon President Patricia Hynes-Coates says this vigil is a time for families, victims and survivors to come together to honour their loved ones. Hynes-Coates says people are still not getting the message. She says for some reason people think the impacts of impaired driving will never happen to them, but says her family is living-proof that it can.
Hynes-Coates says this vigil is also a stark reminder for people that you can be impacted by impaired driving at any time. She says we should all be safe so that we can all have an enjoyable Christmas so that nobody else has to see that empty chair at Christmas time.
