Meanwhile, heavy snowfall in the central region on Thursday made for a tangly afternoon for drivers.
Environment Canada Meteorologist, David Neil says they were expecting a quick blast of heavy snow in the 10 to 15 centimeter range, from late Thursday morning to the early evening. He says the Gander Airport measured about nine centimeters on the ground.
Neil says it was pretty fast as the snow came in around mid-morning, dumped some snow and blasted through pretty quickly.
Constable Fifield with the Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP Traffic Services went as far as advising drivers to stay off the roads in the area.
He says they responded to three incidents where vehicles went off the road in the span of an hour and a half.
