A man who came upon an accident on Veterans Memorial this week almost caused an accident.
It was around suppertime when several moose on the highway caused a multi-vehicle collision. Police, fire and paramedics were on the scene, but there were no serious injuries.
Just at that time, a vehicle travelling at an excessive speed came upon the scene; the driver braked hard and had to steer to avoid striking a first responder. Bay Roberts RCMP found that the driver, a 19-year-old from Spaniard’s Bay, was driving with an expired license. The vehicle was towed and the man was charged with driving with undue care and attention.
RCMP are reminding the public to slow down and move over when approaching an emergency vehicle.
