The residents at Alderwood Estates Retirement Centre in Witless Bay say that “Christmas is not like it was,” but they plan to change that.
The seniors have taken off their scary masks from their Halloween haunted house and put on their reindeer antlers.
Residents welcomed a full house into their home on Thursday for a Christmas pageant of skits, jokes and music.
Recreation Director Renee Houlihan says they are planning more events for December. She believes the events help the residents feel productive and excited.
She says there is always a sense of purpose and a chance to give back. Houlihan wants people to know that the events give them a sense of pride and the community’s support is uplifting.
