Students across the province have the opportunity to have breakfast free of charge five days a week and it is important that it is nutritious.
In the upcoming year, the Kids Eat Smart Foundation will release the results of a new pilot program.
Several schools across the province have been testing a new “menu” based on the new Canada’s Food Guide.
Executive Director Celina Stoyles says they have been working closely with nutritionists, volunteers and members to ensure students are not just fed, they are properly fed.
She says what the foundation is trying to do at the moment is finish the evaluation process so their goal is to have that completed in the spring so they can work in a change in cost, a need for more volunteers or any other changes that may need to be made.
