The Outer Ring Road was closed for a large portion of the day as volunteers worked to clean up the sides of the busy highway.
Barricades were in place preventing drivers from accessing the highway between Kenmount Road and Logy Bay Road.
Volunteers with Clean St. John’s were on the highway discarding smaller to bigger items. Everything from coffee cups and food wrappers to car parts were among the items picked up.

Each year hundreds of tonnes of garbage are removed from the sides of the road during the clean-up effort.
