The President of the St. John’s Edge couldn’t say much about the situation surrounding hometown boy Carl English, but hopes he will eventually be a part of the organization in some capacity.
Tyrone Levingston was named the new President of the Edge during the Fall. Before that, he was the President and General Manager of the Cape Breton Highlanders, who folded after last season.
English told VOCM News in November that there are contractual issues from last year which still have to be rectified, and until then he has no affiliation with the team. Levingston says the situation took place before he came on board, and is over his head as he’s not a part of the ownership group.
However, Levingston says English is a great asset to any basketball club in the country, or the world.
He says Carl is a well-known entity here in the province and he understands why people want him to be a part of the organization, and Levingston agrees, wishing he was a part of the club in some fashion.
Levingston says to his knowledge, the issue is being taken care of and hopefully it’s taken care of sooner rather than later.
The Edge President says Carl English is an amazing athlete and human being.
