A couple travelling on the TCH Sunday afternoon saw their lives flash before their eyes when a large industrial tote flew out of the back of a pickup.
Marilyn and Joel Connolly of Roache’s Line were on the TCH west of Soldiers Pond at about 3:45 p.m. when a black pickup, towing a convertible, decided to pass them on a windy afternoon.
A tote, measuring about four cubic feet, flew out of the back of the pickup, leaving mere seconds for them to react. Joel managed to stop, despite the presence of many other vehicles, just in the nick of time.
Marilyn says the tote clipped the front of their vehicle on the passenger side. One second later and she says they probably would have been killed as the tote would have slammed into their windshield.
The driver of the black pickup did not stop. Marilyn is still traumatized and is having trouble concentrating.
She continually sees the tote coming at her as she thought she was going to die.
The pickup was seen on the Outer Ring at 3:30 that afternoon, and Marilyn is asking anyone with information to contact police.
