Economist and Leader of the NDP Alison Coffin says the province’s fiscal management is failing.
The NDP released a statement reacting to the Auditor General’s report. Coffin says the province is still in a difficult financial position and that the Government is relying on “a wing and a prayer” to fix it.
Coffin is disturbed that AG, Julia Mullaly is unable to answer questions on rate mitigation. She is also concerned that only half of the recommendations on the AG’s 2016 report have been completed.
Coffin says the Minister of Finance, Tom Osborne has not done his part to diversify the province’s economy during his five years in the role.
She says the millions of dollars the province has put towards economic diversification has not worked.
