The Deputy Mayor of Burgeo says the town is in shock after a tragic workplace accident at the local arena.

RCMP were called to the arena around 1:30 this morning following a report that a man had died on the scene.

Sue Ann Peckford-Spencer tells VOCM News it is a very sad time for the small, tight-knit community.

RCMP and Occupational Health and Safety are investigating.

The exact nature of the incident has not been released by police.
