The provincial government is reminding drivers to be extra vigilant when travelling over the highway on the Northern Peninsula.
A significant portion of the St. Anthony caribou herd is currently in the area between Eddies Cove, the St. Anthony Airport, and the town of Main Brook.
A number of caribou-vehicle collisions have already occurred over the last few weeks on the road leading to Cook’s Harbour.
The herd is expected to remain in the area for the winter, making them vulnerable to vehicle strikes.
