The Newfoundland and Labrador Employers’ Council says there’s no need for the Liberal minority government to implement what it calls “extreme policies” in order to remain in power.
Executive Director Richard Alexander was responding to speculation that government may implement a $15 an hour minimum wage in order to court favour with the NDP and survive the 2020 budget vote.
Alexander says that’s not necessary.
He says the Liberals don’t need three votes, they only need one, and government shouldn’t have to consider “extreme policies” like a $15 an hour minimum wage in order to survive a confidence motion.
