The city of St. John’s will be looking for input later this year on how to improve Bowring Park.
In 2005 the city began working on a series of recommendations that came from the Bowring Park Master Plan, which included a number of ways to upgrade the space.
Now with the major projects outlined in that document complete, the city is looking for ways people would like to see the area further improved.
The city held public engagement last year on the subject, and many ideas were presented including a skating loop, more concessions, and a paved parking lot.
Councilor Sandy Hickman is a member of the Bowring Park Foundation. He says that in the new year they will be holding more engagement for more ideas on how to move forward.
He notes that Bowring Park isn’t needing for many more buildings and playgrounds. But does say there are a lot of hiking trails and quiet space they want to maintain. He says they are always looking for more ideas and we will be seeing some movement on this front early this year.
