It’s been a wild 24-hours for the St. John’s Edge trying to get home in time for their home opener tonight.
Since Sunday’s 109-108 win over the Halifax Hurricanes, Head Coach Steve Marcus and the Edge have spent their time standing in lines and going back and forth between the airport and hotels.
The Edge started the season with six straight games on the road and things only got tougher before they take the court of tonight’s home opener against the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans – a rematch from last year’s Conference Finals.
Marcus says they were supposed to fly out of Halifax at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, that one was cancelled and they stayed at the airport hotel. Then, they were supposed to fly out at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, which was delayed for three hours before ultimately being cancelled.
They stood in-line for hours at the rebooking station to get them on a flight that left Halifax at 7:50 a.m., landing in St. John’s 10:00 a.m..
He says it’s been a brutal 24-hours, but that’s mother nature and there’s not much anyone can do about it.
Coach Marcus says there are no excuses going into tonight’s game, and they look forward to getting back home and playing in front of the home town crowd. Tip-off is 7:00 p.m..
