It’s that time of year again – pre-budget consultations are now underway.
This year’s consultation theme is “A Balanced Approach”. Government says it includes an overview of government’s fiscal approach that’s focused on cost control, efficiencies and savings that grow over time.
People of the province can provide feedback on ways to reduce spending and/or increase revenues, and on priority areas for decisions on the 2020 budget.
Consultations will occur in two phases: phase one focuses on the public and industry, while in phase two, government will publish all input from the first phase, and look for collaboration with all MHAs.
Phase one will run until January 31st, while phase two will run from February 3rd to 14th.
The first in-public consultation will take place at the Capital Hotel in St. John’s on January 22nd from 7:00-9:00 p.m..
