A parent of a young hockey player is looking for answers after her son’s team was left without hockey equipment at a recent tournament in Halifax.
Val Hynes says the team left last Wednesday and headed to Halifax on a direct flight. When they arrived, their luggage did not. It had somehow ended up in Toronto.
The tournament schedule had to be shifted around but the organizers were very accommodating, according to Hynes. She says the team played and were able to participate but that does not make up for other inconveniences.
She explains that the players were at the event with little luggage because they were told to bring a small carry-on but due to the situation, all they had was dirty clothes.
The worst part of all of it is not that the parents were home in Newfoundland calling Air Canada for answers, but that the airline did not provide any good reason to why their hockey gear ended up in another province.
Hynes believes that an explanation or an apology from the airline would have been the least they could do. She says that if the airline explained what passengers could do to help the system, everything would work out better in the end.
On top of it all, the team’s flight to return home was delayed, but now they are home safe and sound.
