Residents of the Southern Shore haven’t had any garbage pickup in weeks and they’re looking for answers.
Mike Malone of Tors Cove says the Eastern Regional Services Board is responsible for garbage pickup in the region, but no garbage collection has taken place since before Christmas.
He claims he hasn’t been able to get any clear answers from Eastern Waste Management on when they’re garbage will be removed.
Chair of Eastern Regional Services Harold Mullowney says a series of unfortunate circumstances have caused a delay in garbage collection in the region.
Mullowney, who is also the mayor of Bay Bulls, says January 6th collection was delayed by a snowstorm, followed by mechanical difficulties experienced by the contractor which prevented collection on the 10th.
Those mechanical problems are still being addressed and he’s hoping that garbage can be picked up tomorrow before the next weather system hits.
