The City of St. John’s says the State of Emergency will remain in effect on Monday.
The City is stressing that the public refrain from going outside to the greatest extent possible to allow plow operations to proceed.
Garbage and recycling will not go ahead tomorrow, and all city facilities will remain closed.

However, some restrictions have been lifted for the day. Mayor Danny Breen says Snow clearing contractors are allowed on the roads, while gas stations can open only for emergency fuel.
Due to current adverse weather conditions hitting the island, pharmacies will not be permitted to open tomorrow.
Breen says they are asking everyone to stay home and stay safe since in many areas there is only one cut through, making the roads one-way. He says the snow clearing conditions are challenging.
In an update earlier today, Breen says he has been out surveying the situation, and there is progress being made.
He says the plows have made at least one cut down most streets, but there are still some areas the plows have not made it to yet.
According to Breen, tonight’s forecasted snowfall will mean city staff will have to backtrack on some areas.
They will have to go re-do the cuts already made. He notes there needs to be snow removal in many areas of the city which will require a blower and a dump truck operating side-by-side.
Breen says the city is aware of the frustrations of some residents who are running low on supplies.
He says there is no manuel for how to deal with these situations, and they are making decisions based on the best information available to them at the time. The supply issues of residents is something they are taking into consideration.
The city will be providing an update on the state of emergency tomorrow afternoon.
Meanwhile, St. John’s Regional Fire Chief Sherry Colford wants people to use 911 for emergencies only.
She says they have gotten calls from people asking if they could send somebody to shovel their driveway.
Mount Pearl and Paradise Lifting State of Emergency During the Day
Mount Pearl and Paradise are taking similar strategies when it comes to handling the State of Emergency tomorrow.
As of Monday, both Mount Pearl and Paradise will temporarily lift the State of Emergency at 6:00 a.m.
Mount Pearl’s will remain lifted until 9:00 p.m., while the lift in Paradise will last until midnight, daily.
The municipalities ask residents to remain at home unless absolutely necessary as many streets remain impassable creating a safety concern.
However, there are exceptions. Pharmacies are permitted to stay open until 7:00 p.m. and private plow operators can begin operations, along with the delivery of oil to homes.
