Food stores in the metro region have opened late this morning after days of being closed due to States of Emergencies on the Avalon.
Although some municipalities have not lifted their SOE, stores selling basic foods have been permitted to open during the day including supermarkets, convenience stores and pharmacies.
Many shelves have been emptied such as those at Sobeys in Paradise.
The City of St. John’s is asking residents to purchase enough food to do your family for 48 hours.
