The MP for St. John’s South-Mount Pearl, and the province’s representative in the federal caucus, has something in common with Baby Snow, the little boy born at the height of Friday’s record-breaking storm.
Seamus O’Regan says his parents endured a similar blizzard 49 years ago.
The city was shut down in a State of Emergency during a similar storm in January of 1971. His parents were living in Brookfield Estates at the time, and his mother—in labour—was taken by fire truck to St. Clare’s, where he was born.
O’Regan says storms like these do happen from time-to-time, and he understands that patience is wearing thin, but he offered his congratulations to residents for holding up as well as can be expected.
It’s not too often you see something of this magnitude and the rest of the country wishes they were there with you, according to O’Regan.
