While there will likely be a dip in the price of fuel this week, it won’t be as much as first predicted.
According to George Murphy of the Consumer Group for Fair Gas Prices, it’s a matter of the recent state of emergency.
The Public Utilities Board did not adjust provincial fuel prices last week due to the state of emergency. Murphy says the PUB is instead averaging the adjustment over a 14-day period, rather than two seven-day adjustments.
The result will mean less immediate savings for the consumer.
The updated numbers show that heating and stove oils will decrease by about five cents per litre, diesel could see a decrease of about 5.1 cents per litre, and gas is showing a drop of about 2.7 cents per litre.
