The eight day long State of Emergency in the capital city has taken its toll on both employees and employers, with small businesses especially feeling the strain.
According to St. John’s City Councillor Dave Lane the city will be doing their part to help provide some relief to business owners.
They are extending the deadline to claim a vacancy allowance for October to December from the end of this week to February 14. As well, by the end of this week he hopes to announce some form of interest relief for businesses.
Meanwhile, the St. John’s Board of Trade is doing their part to help out small businesses during the storm aftermath as well.
The organization has announced that through a partnership with the federal government businesses affected by the state of emergency will receive an extension on their HST remittance.
