The Newfoundland Growlers extended their home winning streak to 17 games in a 5-0 game against the Brampton Beast last night at Mile One.
The puck was barely dropped when the Growlers scored the opening goal. The Beast put the pressure on until the final minutes of the game but Parker Gahagen stood tall and turned aside all 33 shots to preserve a shutout victory.
The Growlers play tonight in a rematch against the Brampton Beast. If they win, they’ll tie the ECHL record for longest home winning streak. The team will be suiting up to pay tribute to the St. John’s Maple Leafs. Puck drop is 7 p.m. NL time at Mile One Centre.
Meanwhile, the Growlers and Growlers Give are partnering with Purolator to help stock shelves at local food banks.
Growlers fans are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item along to tonight’s game for collection by Purolator volunteers station at the entrances at Mile One.
In return, fans will be entered into a draw for a replica Growlers jersey.
For every goal scored by the Growlers tonight, Purolator will donate 100 pounds of food towards the Purloator Shuts Out Hunger food drive.
