A new business is opening in Fleur de Lys on the Baie Verte Peninsula in the coming days, dedicated to a little girl whose murder gripped the province nearly 20 years ago.
13-year-old Samantha Walsh was killed in February of 2000.
Her body was discovered more than two weeks after she disappeared while walking home. Michael Lewis was convicted in her murder.
The mission of Samantha’s Saltwater Joys Museum and Cafe is to reach out to others who have experienced tragic losses and share positivity and love.
The name was inspired by Saltwater Joys, by the Buddy Wassisname and the Other Fellers—Samantha’s favourite song.
The cafe will be open on Sunday, with the official opening scheduled for Monday, July 15.
