There are substantially fewer parking meters downtown than there used to be thanks to the work of vandals, but that hasn’t stopped the vandalism.
Early this morning, just before 2:00 a.m. RNC officers got a report that someone was downtown breaking into parking meters.
Sure enough, police caught up with a 58-year-old man and arrested him for mischief, theft, and possessing break and enter tools.
He was parked in the lockup for the rest of the night.
