Newfoundland Power says they’re actively monitoring the forecast and are prepared for any possible outages with buckets of freezing rain on the way.
Power crews are ready and prepared to respond as safely and quickly as possible if they are needed for any weather-related outages.
Newfoundland Power says in advance of any storm or weather system, they ensure their crews are on stand-by, trucks are fully stocked and fueled, and if necessary, crews are deployed to locations where the storm is expected to hit the hardest.
They encourage customers to be prepared by having an emergency kit ready and electronic devices fully charged.
Newfoundland Power reminds the public that if they see a downed power line, always treat it as live. Stay back by a minimum of 10 meters and call Newfoundland Power immediately.
Power Companies Prepared for Weather
The people who manufacture and deliver most of the electricity for this province are as ready as they can be, for today and tonight. That’s according to Minister of Natural Resources Siobhan Coady.
Minister Coady has been in touch with both Newfoundland power and Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro.
Hydro informed her that they have plenty of reserves and lots of power available. All of the units at Holyrood are up and running, and she says the province is as ready as in can be.
