Newfoundland born gospel musician will make his debut on Saturday, February 8 at the Grand Ole Opry stage in Nashville.
Matt Maher was born in Newfoundland but moved to the United States in the mid 1990’s. Matt Maher completed his music degree in Phoenix and at the time rediscovered his faith and started writing songs.
Maher explains how he used to go to a lot of live music shows downtown but says he was never good at writing songs about girls. Eventually he began writing music about his faith and scored a publishing deal in 2001 and 2005.
In 2008, he signed a record deal and has been putting out music ever since.
Maher was recently nominated for the Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year Juno award.
He will appear at the Opry with fellow Canadian Terri Clark and others.
AND THE ANNOUNCEMENTS KEEP COMING! See you Saturday at the @opry! Excited to make my debut there. Sadly with no rhinestones.https://t.co/DvX6vun9kQ pic.twitter.com/v6OnDVshHz
