A Seven-year-old boy’s painting of his version of Snowmageddon is now making its way all across the country and beyond.
Julia Halfyard and George Morgan’s son, Seth, painted what he thought Snowmageddon was about during an art class following the State of Emergency. It depicts the abominable snowman towering over row houses.
Halfyard’s sister posted a picture of the painting on the popular Facebook page, and that’s when it blew up. She says they have received tons of personal messages and e-mails from people wanting the image to commemorate the event. Halfyard describes the picture as friendly, cheerful and child-like, and says it exemplifies the community coming together in the face of this massive storm.
Halfyard put the image on t-shirts and are selling them for $15 each. You can also buy the print for $10 with all proceeds going to the Gathering Place.
She says she kept an eye on the Gathering Place throughout the storm and saw the work being done there, and how critical it is to so many in the community. This was a way to give back and highlight the great work they do.
Halfyard says they never expected it to take off like it has.
She says she has spent the last week fielding calls, and trying to keep the rest of her life in order. But, she’s been devoted to rolling t-shirts and sending them, keeping stores stocked. They are available at The Bee’s Knee’s, The Travel Bug and Twisted Sister.
Halfyard is embracing the “mail out” this week, sending shirts all across Canada, the United States and even India.
