Postal workers in the metro area are holding a demonstration on Thursday to protest issues regarding employment at Canada Post.
Craig Dyer, the Chief Shop Steward for CUPW in Newfoundland and Labrador says the issues really came to the forefront in the aftermath of Snowmageddon, when temporary call-in workers were not paid for time missed due to the situation.
He says workers want permanent full time jobs but the corporation isn’t promoting anyone.
Right now they have about 10 open full time positions, but Canada Post is not filling them and they are leaning towards a temporary work force. He says the workers and the public all deserve better.
The demonstration is taking place on Thursday at the Canada Post Building on Kenmount Road.
