A polar bear warning has been issued for the Cartwright area after several reports recently emerged from the community.

The provincial government says residents should exercise caution following reports of one or more polar bears in the area of the Labrador community.

Residents are advised to take steps to avoid encountering a polar bear, and to avoid drawing one into the town.

Never approach a polar bear. If you see one, report it to wildlife officials at 709-938-7362 or after hours at 709-938-7375.
