The Newfoundland Growlers etched their way into the history books last night with a landmark 19th straight victory at home, the longest home ice winning streak in ECHL history.

The Growlers gained the lead early in what would end up being a very physical game against the Maine Mariners.
There were a number of penalties for roughing and fighting, and one Mariners player, Mikael Robidoux, was ejected from the game after he shoved an official in the aftermath of an incident in front of the Mariners’ bench.
In the end, the hearts of the fans in attendance were filled with joy as the team earned a 5-1 victory, officially breaking the record set by the 1994-1995 South Carolina Stingrays.
The team looks to keep the streak alive, and go for win number 20 tonight in a rematch against Maine. Puck drop is at 7:00.
