The deadline to file your income tax is only a few days away. If you haven’t started the process, now is a good time to start.
Canada Revenue Agency Spokesperson, Dawn Kennedy, says it’s important to file your taxes on time so not to receive late penalties. If you have a balance owing, you want to avoid late penalties. Getting taxes done by April 30th ensures that you are not penalized or charged interest.
Kennedy says there are things people forget to claim such as tuition, child care, moving and medical expenses.
There is help available if you are having trouble filing your taxes. A volunteer tax clinic where anyone can walk in or set up an appointment is still ongoing for the rest of the tax season.
If you are concerned about paying your balance, payment plans can also be arranged. You can reach out to the CRA toll-free at 1-800-959-8281 , as well as online.
