Opposition Leader Ches Crosbie is calling for the resignation of Natural Resources Minister Siobhan Coady in connection with Nalcor’s hiring of a former deputy minister as a consultant.
Gordon McIntosh, who lives in Scotland, was hired on a $350,000 contract – double his deputy minister’s salary.
While Minister Siobhan Coady denies directing Nalcor to hire McIntosh, Crosbie suggests she was either “incompetent, or irrelevant as minister.”
Ches Crosbie wondered aloud how the minister “has the face to stay in her job.” He asked, if officers of the House investigate the matter for “gross mismanagement,” as happened with the Mitchelmore Report; would the report be called “The Coady Report?” She warned that Crosbie was treading “dangerously over a line” and she asked him to “tone down his rhetoric.”
