St. John’s International has been recognized as the most improved airport in all of North America.
The airport was given the distinction by Airports Council International as the result of surveys filled out by departing passengers throughout 2019, indicating 89 per cent customer satisfaction.
CEO Peter Avery calls the win a really big deal, and says it has been “years in the making.”

The airport’s expansion program, which began about 10 years ago, played a huge factor. Avery also notes it’s the “little things” that staff do on a daily basis that make a big difference.
Avery says they are still looking for ways to improve.
The departures area and solving the “baggage shuffle” issue of trying to find the right carousel is an example of something they are working on.
