Hockey NL is following the lead of Hockey Canada and suspending all activities in an effort to curb the potential spread of Coronavirus.
In a release, president Jack Lee says the decision was not made lightly, but after consultations with government officials, their medical director and Hockey Canada the decided it was the best decisions to help maintain the welfare of all Canadians.
This comes in the wake of many national sports leagues such as the NHL suspending operations. The ECHL, an NHL affiliate and home to the Newfoundland Growlers, also suspended its season yesterday.
