Memorial University has placed limits on non-essential gatherings on campuses.
Classes, labs and other academic activities are continuing.
Non-essential gatherings with 25 or fewer attendees are allowed to proceed, however organizers are encouraged to consider whether or not to cancel or postpone those events.
Memorial’s Vice President, Dr. Noreen Golfman says they are watching the situation very closely.
She says there are a lot of students from very far away who have nowhere else to go so it is very important to plan ahead. She says they are hoping to get through this semester.
No decision has yet been made about convocation ceremonies scheduled in May.
