A popular buy and sell website has banned listings for items that have come in high demand as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.

In a statement on Kijiji’s website, the company says they have been monitoring the response to the current situation and have banned postings for health care masks, hand santitizer/gel, disinfecting wipes and toilet paper.

The company says the response is to help “curb pricing practices that run counter to the community-minded spirit of Kijij.”

As well, the company says they will be removing any posts mentioning coronavirus, except for books, in the title.

In the meantime, the company recommends cleaning items you plan to sell and avoiding any personal contact when meeting up with someone for a sale to help prevent the spread of the virus.
