Newfoundland and Labrador now has three cases of presumptive COVID-19.
All three—two women and a man—reside in Labrador-Grenfell Health region. The woman who first tested positive had been on a Carribean cruise, and the latest two had contact with her, and were not unexpected.
Dr. Janice Fitzgerald urges anyone who is symptomatic to call 811.
494 people have been tested, and 491 have been confirmed negative. There are 193 people in self-isolation and being monitored by Public Health.
She says extra resources are being added to the 811 service, where there is currently a five-minute wait. Fourteen RNs are being added this week.
Anyone experiencing symptoms is asked to self-isolate for 14 days and medical officials will be dispatched to your home to administer testing. Chief Medical Officer of Health Janice Fitzgerald is asking that you do not go to a hospital or health care facility.
Parents are advised to halt all play dates or sleepovers for children.

Prime Minister Gives COVID-19 Update

The Prime Minister is asking Canadians not to gather in groups of 50 or more. Until now, the Minister of Health in Newfoundland and Labrador had asked that gatherings be limited to 250.
Justin Trudeau, in an address to the nation carried live on VOCM, says times will get better. The full Cabinet is meeting today and Trudeau will announce changes to the tax season in the next couple of days.
The federal government will make a significant announcement tomorrow on an economic package. People stranded abroad can avail of up to $5,000 in federal aid to get back or to sustain them. The government is also working on help for businesses.
Visitor centres at all national historic sites and parks will be closed.
