Newfoundland and Labrador now has a fourth case of COVID-19. A man who lives within the Eastern Health region, who recently returned from international travel.
The Chief Medical Officer did not get any more specific as to residency. The announcement is not unexpected, says Dr. Janice Fitzgerald.
The man is in self-isolation and is reported to be doing well.
That follows three cases in the Labrador-Grenfell Health region, linked to a woman who recently returned from a cruise.
Any person returning from out of province will now be required to quarantine for 14 days. That includes persons arriving from out of the country as well as those arriving from another province.
Premier Dwight Ball says government will be working closely with Marine Atlantic, Oceanex, and trucking companies to ensure proper measures are in place to receive goods—such as groceries and household supplies.
The province’s regional health authorities are setting up drive-through COVID-19 assessment centres. These will operate by appointment.
Drug supply is an added concern. Prescription refills will be for 30 days.
