A number of provincial government counter services will be temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Department of Finance is putting a number of measures in place to promote social distancing and limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Counter services at the Central Cashiers Office are temporarily suspended and cash payments are not being accepted.
There are online payment options in place.
Meanwhile other options are available if online payments are not an option.
The department is continuing to process vendor payments for goods and services. Suppliers are being asked to sign up for direct deposit.
Provincial government in-person tax administration services are also temporarily suspended and questions about provincial pensions are being taken by phone at 709-729-3931 or email at pensions@gov.nl.ca.
All counter services at the Department of Motor Registration, Government Service Centres and Commercial Registrations have been discontinued.
Residents who need drivers’ license renewals, vehicle renewals, and notices of sale, can avail of those services online.
Service NL is providing urgent in-person services by appointment only.
MCP is also suspending walk-in counter services at their office in St. John’s.
Applications will still be accepted, but must be sent in via a sealed envelope submitted to drop boxes located at their office buildings or by fax.
Staff are continuing to ask questions from the public who call in as well.
