If you’re a Newfoundlander or Labradorian and coming back to the province from the province’s offshore, Premier Ball says you do not need to self-isolate.
Newfoundland and Labrador has set a number of restrictions on those traveling to this province from elsewhere. Anyone coming to Newfoundland and Labrador from another province, or from outside the country, must self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival. Movement between Labrador and Newfoundland does not warrant self-isolation.
Ball says offshore rigs like Hibernia are part of the province’s jurisdiction, and you’re not seen as leaving. He says it’s no different than going to work inside the province as some are doing.
For those working in the province’s offshore from outside, Ball says provisions have been made to get them out of the province. He says they would then have to comply with their own jurisdictions.
Ball says those from outside will get to their final destination in a safe manner in which they would not be interacting with people from the province.
For those working outside the province and returning from places like Alberta, Ball says yes, you must self-isolate.
