Food First NL is busy gathering information on the flow and availability of food.
Executive Director Josh Smee says it’s early days, but the current situation is having an impact on food service programs such as community meals.
He says food banks are also changing the way they operate, but most depend on volunteers. Smee says those volunteers tend to be older and more at-risk for complications from the virus.

He expects there to be a crunch on volunteers because of it. Food supplies are good, he says, and the banks appear to be well-stocked.
