The provincial Liberal Party has suspended its leadership contest.
The party made the announcement this morning.

The party’s executive says a further recommendation will be made May 1 on whether to resume or further suspend the process depending on if the current Public Health Emergency is still in place, and whether any other extraordinary public health measures are in effect.
There are two candidates for the Liberal leadership, John Abbott and Dr. Andrew Furey. All campaigning activity ends today, and no more donations will be accepted.
The suspension comes after Abbott first called for the leadership contest to be suspended last Monday. Furey initally supported going ahead with the process, but later changed his tone when he stated on Friday that the best path forward would be to delay the process.
