With live in-person performances off the table these days, local musicians are getting creative and finding new ways to collaborate.
The CO-VIDeo Collective features a group local musicians who are using the internet to cover some classic hits—like “Take On Me” by A-ha—while exercising social distancing.
Ritchie Perez of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s says it was a lot of work to edit the sound and visuals, but he’s pleased with the result.
Perez says it has been getting a huge response on Facebook, and creates a bit of an escape from all the troubling news surrounding the pandemic.
The group plans to tackle more songs, but Perez isn’t tipping his hand just yet.
On Friday, they released another video covering “Never Tear Us Apart” by INXS. Perez has some other ideas in mind, but admits we will just have to wait and see.
The musicians featured in the video for “Take On Me” include:
- Ritchie Perez
- Brian Downton
- Emily Hunt
- Maria White (Rea)
- Bob Earle
- Jordan Young
- Geoff Younghusband
