Health Minister John Haggie could not confirm widespread rumours suggesting that someone who tested positive for COVID-19 had been in the community shopping.
Social media posts suggest that a person with a confirmed case had been out shopping at Costco today. Haggie says the department is aware of the posts and they will do their best to investigate with the information they have.
Haggie says if this did occur and a person who has not recovered from COVID-19 went into the community he says it is “utterly irresponsible” and is not condoned.
Haggie says there are measures that can be used to manage such situations, however he prefers to educate. He says if necessary they are willing to enforce.
The RNC says they are currently investigating using information provided via the online report form.
